Q: How long does it take to learn to fly? 

A: Most people can learn the basics of controlling a ultralight training aircraft in about 10-15 hours of flight instruction

Q: How long does it take to get 10 -15 hours of instruction?

A: Most training is done in 1-1.5 hour sessions, with a preflight briefing and a post flight debrief. Generally two sessions would be a maximum per day. Students will have homework and reading between flight lessons. So at 2 hours per day would be 5 days for 10 hours 7-8 days for 15 hrs. If the weather is suitable (low clouds and wind can prevent training) and aircraft airworthy. (machines need maintenance and repair)

Q: What is required to get my pilot license?

A: 6 items are required to become legal to fly in each license category. Successful completion of the following, 1. Verification of identity 2. Medical fitness 3. Knowledge (groundschool and exams} 4. Flight instruction 5. Experience (specified number of hours of solo flight, cross country flight, instrument flight) 6. Skill (Assessment of the above including flight assessment)

Q: What does it cost to learn to fly and get a permit?

A: It depends on the type of license you want. A basic ultralight permit $3-4000, a Ultralight permit with passenger carrying endorcement $7-8000, a Recreation pilot license $14-16,000, a Private Pilot license $15-20,000. (All of these numbers are estimates and dependant upon the student skill, intensity of the training and student dedication.)
